ABOUT ME

My name is Einat

About

I'm a painter living and working in Washington State. I work primarily in acrylic, with a deep love of color and an ongoing curiosity about other materials and ways of making.

In my landscapes, I’m drawn to rolling hills, winding paths, open skies, and unexpected color. I play with perspective, simplify and reshape what I see, and let color move beyond what might exist in nature. I’m less interested in describing a landscape exactly than in capturing the feeling it holds.

I also paint donkey portraits, drawn to their quiet strength, resilience, gentle humor, and unmistakable character. Through color and expressive brushwork, each one takes on a personality of its own - sometimes playful, sometimes contemplative.

My landscapes often begin with one of my own sketches or an idea for a composition, while the donkey portraits begin with photographic references. Either way, I keep the beginning loose. I let the process lead me, discovering the painting as it evolves through color, shape, and instinct.

I came to art by an unconventional route, with advanced degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science and a background in programming. While I valued that part of my life, I found myself increasingly drawn to making art and to the freedom and creativity I found in painting. Eventually, I decided to follow that pull and pursue painting full-time.

Alongside my own painting practice, I teach intuitive painting from my home studio. Teaching gives me the chance to share a different side of the creative process - helping others loosen up, experiment, and find their own way of working.
